On Tuesday, 7-31-2007, SIU Uniform Deputy B. Kellum conducted a stop on a Dodge van for traffic violations. The vehicle was stopped on I45 south at SH 242 in Montgomery County, Texas. During the stop a consent to search the vehicle was provided by the driver and approximately 1200 pounds of marijuana was discovered in the van. The suspect was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana 1st degree felony. The van was seized by the SIU. Deputy Kellum was assisted at the stop by SIU Deputy T. Thompson and K-9 Bianca. Due to the size of the seizure the DEA will be notified to assist with a follow up investigation involving the suspect and the marijuana.
