Post-Burglary Vehicle Pursuit Sends Three to Hospital

Spring, TX (Montgomery County Monitor) – At approximately 4:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, a Woodlands resident arrived home to find two burglars in their house. Responding to the call, a deputy sheriff staged a short distance from the home which is located on Ellwood in the Grogan’s Mill area. Soon thereafter, the deputy spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle briefly pulled over then fled southbound on Grogan’s Mill Road at a high rate of speed. The short pursuit abruptly ended when a small Toyota pickup truck pulled out in front of the speeding vehicle, causing the suspects’ vehicle to collide with the truck. The force of the collision pushed the truck off the roadway and on its side. The suspects’ vehicle continued a short distance from the initial impact, jumped a curb, took out a road sign and entered a business parking lot. Once in the parking lot, the suspects’ vehicle hit several additional vehicles before coming to rest.

The two suspects in the car attempted to escape on foot but were quickly apprehended and taken into police custody.

According to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Officers, the two individuals were in possession of items from the Ellwood residence and the suspects’ vehicle was apparently a stolen, overdue, rental vehicle.

Both suspects, as well as the occupant of the truck, were transported by ground to a local hospital.

Agencies involved in the pursuit or responding to the scene included Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office patrol units and detectives, Department of Public Safety, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constables, South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department and Montgomery County Hospital District.
