At approx. 0429 hrs this date MCSO Patrol Officers were dispatched to a Robbery Past complaint at 13955 Lake Mt. Pleasant Rd. in Montgomery, Tx. Upon arrival the complainant advised that unknown persons had stolen a 4 wheeler at that location and that the actors had fired shots at the complainant when the complainant chased after them.
A BOLO was aired by MCSO dispatch and responding officers located a white pickup with a 4 wheeler in the back that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by 3 male subjects and was westbound on FM 1097 and refused to stop for officers.
A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle was chased to the public boat ramp know as Scott’s Ridge. The vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in Lake Conroe. One of the actors was seen in the water but went under before responding deputies could reach him.
Additional units were called to the scene and a search was initiated in an attempt to locate the actor in the water as well as 2 other actors that had been seen in the vehicle.
A K-9 Unit was called to the scene but was unable to locate any of the actors. Pct. 1 Constable Dive Team was dispatched to the scene and began searching for the actor that had entered the water. The search was hampered by numerous poisonous snakes that were in and around the dive location.
At approx. 0717 hrs same date the body of 1 w/m was recovered at the scene by the dive team. The search continued for the other 2 actors. A cursory search of the pickup truck revealed items that had been reported previously in a burglary in North Montgomery County.
Units assigned to the ATTF and MCSO Major Crimes Unit were called to assist in the investigation.
At approx. 1530 hrs MCSO Detectives located a second stolen vehicle in the vicinity of the initial robbery call. A short time later detectives and patrol officers responded to a Missing Person call in the Flamingo Lakes subdivision. While at that location, the w/m subject that had been recovered from the Scotts Ridge location was identified. The name of that individual is being withheld pending notification of family members.
During the investigation, 2 more w/m suspects were identified. Those individuals have been located, detained and are being interviewed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
