Montgomery County Emergency Management Press Release – Volunteer Assistance Sept. 18, 3:00 p.m.

The Montgomery County United Way working in cooperation with the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management is urging those county residents who have damage to their homes as a result of Hurricane Ike to call the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 936-582-3100.

The United Way is seeking those families who have had their homes destroyed, seriously damaged, or those who need volunteer assistance to begin recovery efforts. Those without insurance, those who are disabled or are below poverty level are especially urged to call.

The United Way can send volunteers to assess damage and help determine what voluntary resources could assist in recovery efforts.

Individuals and companies with equipment to move trees and/or chain saws who are interested in donating their time and equipment can volunteer their assistance to the United Way by calling Heddy Orozco at 888.844.6289 or email her at heddy@mcuw.org

Those that are need of volunteer assistance can speak with a United Way representative at the EOC by calling 936-582-3100.
