On Tuesday, September 22, 2008, @ approximately 3:30 PM, the Montgomery County SIU served a narcotics search & arrest warrant at a residence located in the 2400 Blk. of Carriage Ridge, Conroe, Texas. Arrested was 47 YOA, Robert Munoz.

The SIU had concluded a 6 month investigation by obtaining arrest warrants for the listed suspect. Information was received from the Drug Enforcement Administration that the suspect was a confirmed associate of the Los Zetas and Gulf Coast Drug Trafficking Cartel based in Mexico.

Evidence obtained by the SIU during this investigation includes; suspected money laundering in millions of dollars, suspected trafficking of marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines. During this investigation, the SIU seized computers, documents, 10 lbs of marijuana, 3 grams cocaine with a street value of $2,300.00 in US currency, money counting machine, and other trafficking items used to package and transport currency and narcotics from Munoz’s residence.

Robert Munoz is believed to be part of the money laundering side of this organization. Los Zetas/Gulf Coast Cartel is responsible for smuggling U.S. currency from the United States back to Mexico. The Los Zetas/Gulf Coast Cartel is one of the largest, most violent drug trafficking organizations in Mexico. They are responsible for numerous murders, kidnappings and other violent crimes in Mexico and United States.

Evidence gathered during this investigation was forwarded to the Drug Enforcement Agency who will pursue federal charges against the arrested suspect. A Federal ICE hold has been place on Munoz to verify his status in the United States.
