On 10-14-08, approximately 2:45 am, Conroe Police officers and traffic investigators were dispatched to a reported major accident involving two vehicles in the 2000 block of N. I-45, northbound main lanes. It was reported that one of the drivers involved in the accident was deceased.
A combination of evidence at the scene and witness reports indicated that a 2001 Nissan Maxima driven by Esther Alana Saenz, 06-26-90, was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed and was described by witnesses as weaving in and out of traffic. Saenz’s vehicle apparently struck the rear end of a GMC Sierra pickup driven by Banda Javier Hernandez, 09-16-64. A passenger, Arturo Hernandez, 07-02-79 was also in the pickup.
The initial collision apparently caused both vehicles to lose control and spin out on the roadway. The Nissan Maxima rolled and skidded several hundred yards before coming to a stop.
Saenz was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was ordered by Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Trey Spikes. The driver and passenger of the Sierra pickup were transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center.
