Montgomery County, Texas (Montgomery County Monitor) – Today is the debut of the newest law enforcement live scanner feed located on the Montgomery County Monitor web-site.In January 2009, nearly all law enforcement agencies in Montgomery County switched to a new Motorola digital radio system. The switch rendered the web-site’s analog law enforcement live scanner feeds virtually useless.
The interim period between the removal of the analog law enforcement feed #1 and the introduction of the new digital law enforcement feed #1 consisted of several technical as well as financial hurdles.
The new digital law enforcement feed #1 currently broadcasts all five of the main dispatch channels for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Many of the other channels previously broadcast on the analog system (Talk, TAC, etc.) have been encrypted on the new multi-million dollar, publicly funded, radio system. The Public is not able to monitor the encrypted channels.
This new law enforcement feed, as well as a Fire/EMS feed, can be accessed at the Live Scanner Feed section of the Montgomery County Monitor. The feeds will work with most common audio players. However, listeners who use the Win Amp player to listen to the scanner feeds are able to access additional data indicating the current channel setting of the scanner feeds. The additional channel information can be helpful for those not familiar with typical Montgomery County radio traffic. The Win Amp player can be downloaded for free from the Live Scanner Feed page linked above.
The web-site needs to purchase one additional digital scanner in order to match the scanning capacity it maintained with the old analog system. For those that enjoy the scanner feeds, donations of any size towards the purchase of a new digital scanner ($500 cost) can be made safely and securely using PayPal
