Conroe PD Press Release – Felony Theft – Diamond Exchange

On 05-05-09, approximately 11:40 am, Conroe Police officers responded to a reported felony theft at the Conroe Diamond Exchange located in the 1400 block of North Loop 336 West.

Officers were advised that two black males entered the Conroe Diamond Exchange and asked to look at a ring in one of the showcases. When the salesperson retrieved the ring, one of the males allegedly physically and forcefully took the ring from salesperson. The second male allegedly attempted to reach over the counter to take more rings from the open showcase. The suspects ran from the store, entered a red Chevrolet Blazer, and fled from the parking lot in the Blazer. A third black male was reportedly the driver of the vehicle.

Store employees were able to give officers a description of the suspects, vehicle description, and a direction of travel. Conroe Police patrol officers located the vehicle near the intersection of North Loop 336 and Longmire Road, which less than a mile away from the store. Officers converged on the vehicle and conducted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle, and detained three individuals.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspects threw the ring out of the window of the vehicle moments before being stopped by police. The ring, valued at approximately $30,000.00, was recovered in a grassy area just a few yards from the vehicle. The ring was identified as the ring that was taken from the store.

Three suspects listed below were charged with Third Degree Felony Theft and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for processing. A Third Degree Felony Theft charge carries a possible sentence of 2 to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000.00, or both.
