The Woodlands, Texas (Montgomery County Monitor) – At approximately 9:50 p.m. Friday night, The Woodlands Fire Department and South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire call on Brushwood Court in the Grogan’s Mill Village area of The Woodlands, Texas.
Initial reports indicated the possibility an elderly female was still inside the structure.
A neighbor across the street from the burning residence, Skyler Helmich, noticed the fire while backing out of his driveway and told his dad to call 9-1-1. Helmich, then approached the burning structure along with another neighbor in an attempt to rescue the elderly female.
The neighbor was able to successfully extricate the female from the residence.
Woodlands’ Engine 103, the first fire unit to arrive on-scene, reported heavy fire from a one story residence. Firefighters initiated an interior attack and quickly knocked the fire down.
Both the elderly female and her rescuer were transported to Woodlands Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.
