On Monday July 27, 2009, at approximately 10 a.m., The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit served a Gambling search warrant at a business located in the 23490 Block of Hwy 59 in Porter, Texas. The SIU received information that illegal gambling was being conducted. Probable cause for a warrant was obtained and approved by State District Judge Kathleen Hamilton 359th .
The mother boards from 48 Eight Liner gambling machines were seized along with documents and approximately $2500 as evidence.
The following individuals were arrested:
1. Edward English w/m 03/03/1962
Admitted owner of game room/ From South Carolina
2. Barbara Free w/f 12/30 /1942 of New Caney
Employee / arrested at another game room in April 2008 for same offenses.
3. Fawn Snyder w/f 01/29/1951 of Porter
Employee
The three suspects were booked into the Montgomery County Jail for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activities SJF, Possession of Gambling Equipment M/A, Keeping a Gambling Place M/A and Gambling Promotion M/A.
Gambling citations were issued to patrons on location playing machines. These were issued in JP 4 Judge Metts’ court.
The East Montgomery County Area has seen a recent influx of 8 liner gaming locations. The Montgomery County Sheriffs Special Investigations Unit is investigating these locations for gambling violations.
The SIU was assisted by the Montgomery County District Attorneys Office and the MCSO D-3 Patrol Division.
