On July 29 Conroe Fire Marshall Ron Hyde voluntarily surrendered himself at the Montgomery County jail in response to charges of theft by a public servant. Mr. Hyde was released on bond following the completion of booking procedures. The charges followed an investigation directed at Hyde’s actions as a member of the Shenandoah City Council. The Fire
Marshall previously informed Conroe Fire Chief Ken Kreger of the investigation and spoke with Chief Kreger on the evening of July 28 to advise him of the charges and his plans to surrender to authorities.
Fire Marshall Hyde will remain on active duty with the City of Conroe Fire Department pending further developments in the case. Chief Kreger has restricted the Fire Marshall to the performance of administrative duties and Mr. Hyde will take no law enforcement action in his capacity as Fire Marshall until the charges are resolved. The Fire Chief will continue to monitor the case and take further action as appropriate
