It is certainly disheartening to see City Manager Mendez is such a petty thief. On page 13 of report we learn that he illegally used the city’s credit account to save himself $316.00 in “parts” cost for his personal vehicle repair. That doesn’t include the sales tax on the total amount for his fan clutch that he would have paid if he purchased the part on his own. The report doesn’t mention who installed the part but I would bet that someone at the City’s garage did the job for him. On the taxpayers time! I just can’t imagine this little man with the enlarged “ego” rolling up his own sleeves and getting dirty doing the install himself. What a crook!
Thanks to the Monitor for exposing this financial fiasco perpetrated by Mayor O’Connor…….heads should roll……Oak Ridge should get new leadership immediately and crooks should be measured for prison garb. One other thank you is required and that is to the City of Oak Ridge “Staff” (who were referred to in the report)who were brave enough to point out other of these 2 crooks (O’Connor and Mendez) illegal conversions of City assets to their own personal use. Bravo to you!
