Conroe PD Press Release – Suspicious Person at Bus Stop

cpdbadgeOn 10-06-09, approximately 4:30 pm, Conroe Police officers responded to a reported suspicious person call in the area of South 6th Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.  Officers received initial information from a 10 year old female who stated that she had been approached by a suspicious male in a vehicle shortly after she exited her school bus.

The child stated that a black male, approximately 50 years of age with grey and black hair and wearing sunglasses began driving alongside the child while she was walking towards her home.  The child stated the suspect began talking to her and asked the child her name.  The child stated she felt uneasy about the situation and began running towards her home.  There was apparently no attempt to make physical contact between the suspect and the child.  The child returned home safely.  The suspect vehicle was described as a “smaller” brown and tan color Chevrolet pickup with a green bumper.  The word “Chevrolet” was also lettered across the tailgate of the truck.

The Conroe Police Department is working with the Conroe Independent School District Police Department in increasing patrols in the neighborhood as well as increased patrols at the school bus stops in the area.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect or vehicle can contact the Conroe Police Department at 936-522-3205 or the Conroe Independent School District Police Department at 936-539-0507.
