On Thursday, October 8, 2009 at approximately 8 a.m. a McCullough Jr. High student reported to a CISD police officer that she believed she was being followed to school by a suspicious looking man. Our officer checked the area, could not confirm the report, and reported the incident to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department. The information will be shared with police officers working in the area. The student was wise to report the incident and we in turn, believe it is wise to let parents know, too.
It is our goal to help keep our students safe, so we are providing the following tips regarding safety for you to review with your child.
- Don’t talk to strangers.
- Try to stay with a buddy.
- If you see suspicious activity, try to observe and report license plate numbers, a description of the vehicle and person.
- If someone attempts to grab you, scream, yell, run, or make noise to alert bystanders and report it to an adult immediately.
- Run to your house or a neighbor’s house that you know.
- If there is a police officer in the area, tell the officer what has happened.
- Immediately report an incident to the local law enforcement (911).
- To report suspicious activity, contact both the Conroe ISD Police Department (936)-539-0507 and The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department (936)-760-5800.
Please take time to review this list and share other tips that you want your child to know regarding any information relevant to your family’s situation.
