Conroe PD Press Release – Burglary and Vehicle Pursuit

On 10-08-09, approximately 2:30 am, Conroe Police officers responded to a reported burglary of a motor vehicle in progress in the 1000 block of Gladstell Street.  Upon arrival officers located a white Dodge pickup that appeared to have forcibly entered.  The initial information received indicated that a two males in a grey color Dodge pickup had attempted to break into the white truck and possibly steal items out of the truck. 

 The initial descriptions of the suspects were a white male driver and a black male passenger.  The black male allegedly made entry into the vehicle and caused damage to the locking mechanism on the white truck.  The suspects left the scene in the grey color Dodge truck.

The description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast to patrol units and officers located the suspect vehicle in the 600 block of S. Frazier Street.  Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop attempted to evade the officers.  Officers initiated a pursuit which traveled from South Frazier Street to Gladstell Street, then to southbound I-45 towards Houston.

Local agencies including the Shenandoah Police Department, Oak Ridge Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constables, and other agencies were notified of the pursuit.  Shenandoah Police officers were able to deploy spike strips causing the suspect vehicle’s two right tires to deflate. 

The suspect vehicle continued to travel southbound on I-45 until the driver of the vehicle voluntarily stopped in the 15000 block of Crosswinds, near Beltway 8, in the northeast part of Houston. 

The pursuit covered approximately 32.5 miles and the highest speed of the pursuit exceeded 100 miles per hour.  The two occupants of the suspect vehicle matched the descriptions of those given at the time the original burglary of a motor vehicle was reported.  The suspects were identified and charged with the following offenses:

Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, State Jail Felony
Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Enhanced, 3rd Degree Felony
Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor B

(Passenger) Peirre Leblanc,  Date of birth 07-07-89
Attempted Theft of Property, Misdemeanor A
Criminal Trespass, Misdemeanor B     

Bonds were not available at the time of this press release.  Booking photos may be obtained through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
