Attempted Suicide – Montgomery County Jail
This evening an inmate in the Montgomery County Jail attempted suicide and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
On November 24, 2009, just before 5 PM, medical personnel in the Montgomery County Jail found that an inmate had hung himself in one of the jail infirmary rooms. Medical personnel removed the inmate from the blanket that he had used as a rope and began life saving measures. The inmate was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died.
The inmate, 32 YOA, Douglas James Snyder, had been arrested by Conroe Police Department on November 22, 2009 and charged with a state jail felony-theft and Snyder was also wanted on a bond forfeiture in Galveston County. Snyder was listed as homeless and had no known residence in Montgomery County.
Snyder was in the jail infirmary due to an existing medical condition.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is working cooperatively with the Texas Rangers compiling facts and conducting an investigation into the death.
An autopsy has been ordered and jail procedures will be reviewed.
