Aggravated Assault against a Police Officer

Today at around 10:30 AM, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the Nutrition Depot on Ashlane Way in The Woodlands involving an in progress theft.

When deputies arrived they found that the store employee was involved in a physical altercation with a suspect who had attempted to steal merchandise.  Deputies attempted to arrest the suspect but he violently resisted, fighting the deputies and was able to get into his vehicle and drive away.  The suspect drove into Deputy Cantu who was knocked to the ground.  The deputy was not seriously injured.  Deputies did use a taser and pepper spray on the suspect with little to no effect and one shot was fired at the vehicle.

Deputies pursued the suspect to his home on Golden Shadow Circle where again a taser was used, this time effectively.  The suspect was handcuffed and arrested and faces a variety of charges.
