Early this morning around 4:30 AM the Montgomery Sheriff’s Office assisted the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that had been pursuing a vehicle north on IH 45 from the Greenspoint area. MCSO was told that the suspect driver had been involved in a family disturbance where gunshots had been fired.
A patrol sergeant with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was preparing to deploy spike strips across the roadway near IH 45 and FM 1097. The suspect swerved toward the sergeant and in an effort to move out of harm’s way the sergeant became entangled with the spike strip and broke his ankle.
Just north of the Longstreet overpass the suspect stopped his vehicle on the side of the road and fled on foot into the woods. Officers from various agencies assisted in stopping traffic on IH45 and creating a perimeter. The suspect was found and arrested in the 300 block of Longstreet after speaking by cell phone to officers on the scene.
