EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY – A cooperative effort between offices of Pct. 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden and Sheriff Tommy Gage resulted in two first-degree felony drug arrests late Wednesday night.
Robert Michael “Hillbilly” Jackson, 44, of New Caney is charged with Possession/Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was free on bond from his arrest by the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office in January for Possession/Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Money Laundering.
Larry Wayne Chmiel, 43, of New Caney is charged with possession/Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance
Around 11:10 p.m., Pct. 4 officers and members of the MCSO Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence located at 28064 FM 1485 E. near Idlewild Rd. Officers knocked on the door, and Jackson and Chmiel were inside but no one answered. Officers made forcible entry and detained the pair then searched the residence.
Packaging and scales typical of those used in the distribution of illegal drugs were found in the residence. Before deputies made entry, the suspects attempted to hide approximately 15.6 grams of methamphetamine, and upwards of $7000 cash by tossing them on the roof of the home. Jackson’s arrest by the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office on January 31 began with a traffic stop and involved methamphetamine, paraphernalia and a large sum of cash.
Constable Hayden said he was glad to be working with the Sheriff’s Office.
“Last night shows what a combined effort from two dedicated agencies can accomplish,” Constable Hayden said. “It’s a natural fit, since I, Chief Deputy Welch, and several of my other officers came from the Sheriff’s Office.”
Constable Hayden extended a cooperative offer to drug dealers as well.
“You keep selling drugs in East Montgomery County and we’ll keep taking you to jail,” he said.
