On Friday, June 26, 2010, approximately 07:00 am, Conroe Police officers, investigators, and crime scene investigators responded to the 500 block of Collins Street, Heritage Place Park. Officers received information that an assault and possible sexual assault had occurred at that location and that the victim was still at the scene.
Arriving officers located a 61 year old female victim near the restroom area of the park. The initial investigation revealed that the victim was homeless and had been sleeping in the park. It is believed that at some time between midnight and 7:00 am, an unknown suspect physically assaulted the victim and then sexually assaulted the victim. The victim received serious injuries and was transported to Hermann Hospital Houston for treatment.
Investigators have interviewed the victim and other homeless persons who frequent the park. Investigators are following leads and the investigation is ongoing.
