Heya
I believe it is smoke from a large controlled burn (1000 acres) in the northern part of Montgomery County and possibly parts of Walker County.
The wind is out of the north. There have been lots of smoke calls on the radio and this seems to be the source.

K. Thanks for the info. I assumed it was some kind of controlled thing because of the large wide scale amount of smoke, glad to hear that this is the case!

Woodlands Release
THE WOODLANDS, TX (March 10, 2011) – The Woodlands Fire Department and The Woodlands Township have received word that the U.S. Forest Service is conducting a prescribed/controlled burn on the north end of Lake Conroe in Walker County on approximately 1000 acres. The smoke that is currently being experienced here in The Woodlands is a result of atmospheric changes which cause the smoke to drop down and blow to the south. Again, the prescribed burn is a controlled burn, and residents of The Woodlands should not be alarmed of any fire threat from this occurrence.
