They had enough officers to set up a perimeter. Something we don't have as evidenced by the incident with the fire department trying to get police help for 50 minutes. We are paying for deputies who don't exist. We have proven this. When we have deputies, they leave TW for other calls. We have proven that. This board has been lying to you since day one. When will we act? When someone dies in an incident in TW? We have been lucky so far. Sooner or later a perp is going to pull the trigger.
Pay attention to what the board has spent your money on. Look at some of it's members/former members. 2 indicted so far. Will there be more. From what I heard. Probably.

The below is the norm for Oak Ridge. Not here. In reality, ORN has more officers on the street in their small area every shift than TW ever has. That is a problem.

Good job ORN.

Oak Ridge North police arrested a Magnolia man Thursday night after he allegedly attacked and robbed a 29-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Spring nightclub.

“They just saw him run away,” Hubbard said. “He was on foot. Our officers showed up, including Dean Straight. He had been given a description by dispatch from the phone call.

“He sees a man hiding in the ditch south of there near Spring Pines Drive. The suspect ran off, we set up a perimeter and the suspect was then apprehended. When he was in handcuffs and they were patting him down, officers discovered a small handgun in his jacket pocket.”

Officers performed a search of Bailey’s vehicle and an inventory prior to towing. They found three more guns, a loaded 9mm handgun, a loaded .38 revolver and an AR-15 .223 rifle.

“I don’t believe that he has any kind of concealed handgun permit,” Hubbard said.

What are you talking about? ORPD has two officer's a shift, while The Woodlands Township has up to 16 a shift and even more coming in January.

I was just there Sunday. They had 3 on. So Mr.Knowledge, explain the audio tape with a 50 minute wait time.

Remmber something else. I was a cop out here. We know how many officers the county has, we have seen the logs……………………………………………….

My suggestion to you is to look at the law on Contract deputies and Sheriff's duty under the law.

Then look at the number of patrol deputies who are actually employed by the SO.

By your calculations with no days off, to include vacation, sick, comp…………………………

There would be at best about 10 patrol deputies per shift in the entire rest of the county.

Now if you look at the call sheets, that doesn't compute.

If you don't how to get that information, I'll help you.

You might want to look at the size of the county and divide those 10 deputies up, or check the video of TW cars as far away as East County and Lake Conroe while they were supposed to be in TW.

Can they do that? Yes they can, by law and Contract. Can you force them to stay in TW? NO, by Law and Contract.

Ask Foz, I think he has the contract and I have copies of the law.

Thank you for commenting back, it gives us a chance to educate you on the reality of the law.

But because you seem to be in the know: Explain this one. There are others. This is not the only incident recorded.

Let me add something about more to come. The commissioners only approved 8 deputies TOTAL for all of MC. This was to include all 8 Constables.

Next, you can pay for or approve all you want, but that does not mean they exist. It is when people pick up the paper and see 16 a shift and more coming and believe it that you have a problem.

I have an idea. Do what we did. Ask for a listing of all the unit numbers on duty every shift, for just TW. Then get the call logs. Then show me 16, or better still, show me more next month.

You can not, I'll say again, YOU CAN NOT, put on the street what you don't have. Again look at the actual number of deputies employed, not what numbers are reported.

It is hard to say you have 16 in TW, when your lucky if you have that amount in the whole county.

Show me facts and I'll concede, not an article written by Clueless, or propaganda from the board. Show me the same stuff we got, which are gov docs.

I await your reply.

I don't know where Staggs gets his info but I would dispute that ORPD has only 2 police officers per shift.

I don't have all the documentation that Mdonn has gathered about TW but over time, I have gathered information from several ORN resident's, and they have reported that their 911 call responses both in the middle of the day and in the middle of the nights and the ORPD response did on those occasions consist of more than two officers in multiple vehicles and I've been told of the Chief Andy Walters going out on 911 calls himself along with multiple officers in multiple cars.  AND it seems that the ORPD responds at all times to 911 calls is typically a few short minutes.

The incident of the Fire Department having to wait 50 minutes inTW is common place for the residents of TW, as the information I have reflects.  Friends, relatives, colleagues all seem to have specific stories of waiting HOURS for a response when they call the police.  Seems most individuals who call and have to call back more than once are told that someone is coming, be patient, they are somewhere else in the county.

Be "patient" when you need an offficer?? Outrageous in the "fine" "idyllic" Woodlands, Texas!

It is my understanding that a lot of the turnover from the older homes in ORN to younger families these days is because of the private nature of the police protection.
