MCSO Press Release – Shooting Investigation – Porter 

On 02/07/12 at approximately 1:00 AM the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a shooting at the Montgomery Pines Apartments in the 23000 Block of US 59 in Porter, Texas. Upon arrival Deputies found 29 year old William J. Smith III in the dining area of an apartment with a gunshot wound to the neck. Smith was transported to Ben Taub Hospital in Houston, where he is in stable condition.

MCSO Major Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene and are currently conducting an investigation. The homeowner, 45 year old Jon Pike Jr, was interviewed by detectives and was afterward released on scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim in the shooting was threatening Pike with a weapon at the time he was shot. No charges have been filed at this time, and the case will be referred to the grand jury for review.
