DA Press Release – Serial Sex Offender Gets 50 Years in Prison

On November 4, 2011, jurors in the 410th District Court of Montgomery County, Texas, Judge Reagan Clark presiding, sentenced David Alexander Hunter, 31, formerly of The Woodlands, to fifty (50) years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) for the offense of Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.  Hunter was also found guilty and sentenced to ten (10) years TDCJ for an offense involving a second victim.  The jury assessed a $10,000 fine in each case.  The sentences will run concurrent.

Montgomery County Assistant District Attorneys Cindy Pulcher and Liah Olson presented evidence that one of the victims, Hunter’s five year old neighbor, was playing with Hunter’s children, when he tricked her into entering the back bedroom of Hunter’s house.  Hunter told the victim to close her eyes and open her mouth.  Hunter then penetrated the victim’s mouth with his sexual organ.  The victim immediately informed her parents.  As the investigation continued, the second victim, an eight year old member of Hunter’s family, informed another family member that Hunter had also sexually assaulted her.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and CPS investigated the cases.  During the trial, the jury heard testimony from both victims as well as evidence placing Hunter’s DNA on a blanket recovered from the bed of one of the victims.

Hunter had no previous criminal history and was on bond at the time of trial.  By law, he cannot parole from his fifty (50) year super aggravated sexual assault conviction, so he cannot be released from TDCJ until he is 81 years of age.

“I am thankful that he legislature eliminated parole for those that abuse children under six, like Mr. Hunter,” stated District Attorney Brett Ligon.  “Montgomery County juries continue to support our victims with very long prison sentences for these predators, and I applaud them for it.  These young children can sleep safely knowing Mr. Hunter will never hurt them or any other children again.”
