Magnolia, Texas (Montgomery County Monitor) - At approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon a two car head-on collision claimed the life of a male Magnolia teen-ager. According to DPS Trooper Box, the deceased was driving a Honda Pilot north on FM 2978 near Hardin Store Road, when he attempted to pass in a no-passing zone. The Pilot collided with a Volvo SUV heading south, causing major damage to both vehicles.
Out of the four teenage occupants in the Pilot, the driver, Magdaleno Torres Pinon Jr., 16, was pronounced dead on-scene, Sandra Ramirez, 16, was flown by air ambulance to a treatment facility in Houston, and two others, Randy Trejo, 15, and Jessica Torres, 14, were transported by ground to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.Trooper Box also believes none of the Pilot occupants were wearing seat belts.
The two occupants of the Volvo, 42 year-old Anette Tanche-Larsen and her 13 year-old daughter Lisa, were also transported by ground to a local hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries.

FM 2978 was completely shutdown for more than two hours while DPS Troopers performed their accident investigation.
Excessive speed and attempting to pass in a no-passing zone caused the collision, according to Trooper Box.

Another reason why 16 year old “children” should not be driving, I thought the law required an adult to be in the vehicle?
stupid kid… I kinda feel bad for him though
Let me start out by saying this just shows exactly how safe Volvos and Hondas are. The kids in the Pilot would’ve been fine if they were wearing their seatbelts. I rolled mine(not my fault) at 65mph after I swerved off the road because a Camry came into my lane in a no passing zone at the top of a hill. I rolled 8 times and only sprained my ankle and cut my eyebrow from glass. SEATBELTS ARE NECESSARY!!!!!
U now what f*ck u lawbreker he was a good kid
An ever one f*cks up so u shout tha f*ck up >:(
